Construction Project Status
Construction is a sure sign of progress and improvement in a healthy economy. Public streets and utilities need regular repairs, maintenance and upgrades. Such work is funded through Brea's Capital Improvement Program (CIP) and combinations of Federal and State grant programs that have been established for specific types of work.

Only after many years of careful planning and budgeting can various CIP Projects get out to bid. Once contracts are awarded, it is yet another process to ramp up the actual construction. The City of Brea works closely with selected contractors to schedule work as tightly as possible and get notifications out during critical phases of work.

This MAP is updated periodically to show locations where construction work is underway in Brea. Questions about City of Brea projects may be directed to 714-990-7667.

---Central Avenue and Tamarack Avenue Intersection Improvement---

This Project will widen the north side of Central Avenue east of Tamarack Avenue to provide a dedicated westbound right turn lane.  Improvements will include modifying the traffic signal, and reconstruction of sidewalks, curb and gutter, and curb access ramps at the northeast corner of the intersection. In addition, Tamarack Avenue will also be reconstructed north of Central Avenue to approximately 250 feet northerly to provide a proper transition due to the existing steep street grade at Tamarack Avenue.

The general Contractor for the Project is All American Asphalt. Completion of this Project is anticipated in the end September 2017. During construction, businesses (7-11 and Shell Gas Station) will remain open and access to the apartments and Brookdale Brea will be maintained by the Contractor.

The Contractor will start removing and replacing concrete driveways starting the week of July 24, 2017 through mid-August for the 7-11, Shell Gas Station, Tamarack Woods Apartment and Brookdale Brea Assisted Living Facility. Vehicular access during driveway replacements will be maintained after work hours, but access will be limited. After completion of driveway improvements, Tamarack Avenue will be closed from Central Avenue to approximately 250 feet northerly. Street Closure is anticipated to be implemented in mid-August through September 2017.
The public is advised to use an alternate route as possible and observe all traffic/detour signs to be posted by the contractor.

---North Brea Boulevard Underground Project---
This project will remove the existing Southern California Edison (SCE) utility poles on the west side of Brea Boulevard from Lambert Road to Central Avenue. SCE is the lead utility company for this Project and the Contractor hired by SCE is Henkels and McCoy.

Before the SCE poles are removed, underground conduits will be installed by various utility companies (SCE, AT&T, Crowncastle and Time Warner) into three phases. Phase 1 will be performed by SCE & AT&T and this phase is estimated to be completed in December 2017. Subsequently, Crowncastle and Time Warner will install their conduits. The final phase is the removal of the existing utility poles which are anticipated to be completed by September 2018.

The traffic lanes on Brea Boulevard will be impacted intermittently on weekdays from 9 AM to 3 PM. The public is advised to use alternate route and observed traffic signs posted by the contractor.

---Pavement Enhancement on Lambert Road and Kraemer Boulevard---
This Project will resurface the pavement on the following areas:

• Lambert Road from Delta Avenue to the West City Limit
• Lambert Road from Wildcat Way to the East City Limit
• Kraemer Boulevard from Lambert Road to Golden Avenue (City of Placentia)

In addition, this improvement will also replace some of the median curbs, curbs & gutters and reconstruction of curb ramps in conformance with American with Disabilities Act (ADA). Barring unforeseen condition, this important improvement is anticipated to be completed in November 2017. The general contractor for this Project is All American Asphalt.

The contractor started the removal or replacement of the concrete improvements to prepare for asphalt paving slated for early September 2017. The public is advised to use alternate routes and observe traffic signs posted by the contractor.
